An unusual alignment of two parallel walls running for a short distance in a zigzag manner. Some barbed wire at the site hinted at a WW II origin, except that traditional upright slab construction was used in section of the walls. - In area 1387 an upright slab and small platform , bulldozed to make the footprint of the ʻEwa Marina

The upright was at the makai end of a small platform. In the bushes further makai was a low, linear platform in excellent shape, which unfortunately I never photographed. The archeologist who surveyed this area for Haseko Corporation wrote in his report that this and nearly all other 400 sites at Oneʻula were "temporary habitations." - Ekahanui Gulch enclosure

This pair of male / female stones is at the heiau numbered 1752, one of the largest at Kalaeloa. The male ule stands erect (of course) and the female kohe lies at its base, a slab with a hole in the center. - ʻEwa Beach International Golf Course

A probable family shrine, now a sand trap. The shrine was restored by cultural practitioner and anthropologist Rudy Mitchel. - The heiau across from Oneʻula Beach Park. It was designated preservation and in theory is still there.

Note the two large slabs lying together in front of the upright - perhaps a suggestion of a kohe (vagaina) in connection with the ule (penis, upright). Such male / female (Wakea / Papa, Kū / Hina) pairings are not uncommon - as seen at the heiau in area 1752 a little distance to the west of this complex. - Area 1736 - walled enclosure

These disturbed stones are all that remains of Waipao Heiau, according to archaeologist Earl Neller. This pōhaku was probably not recorded because it lay adjacent to a bulldozer berm made during WWII and because there were no associated cultural features, like a platform. However, the stone had no bulldozer blade marks and appeared to predate the nearby berm. - In area 3215 a small imu? It held over 400 dog bones. Bulldozed.

A large heiau on two levels, defined by faced terraces on three sides and a low wall at the rear. Ti grows at several places on the earth platforms. A large, flat pōhaku sits on the upper platform. The site is being cleared by volunteer crews once a month. - Halawa85 encl2a f

Around 2014, a large kiawe tree fell on this enclosure, damaging it. Note the opening in the side of the small platform. The original archaeological team that identified this heiau dismantled the structure and then rebuilt it somewhat shorter, without the empty space in its center. An archaeologist familiar with sites on Kahoʻolawe island commented that if this had been found there, it would have been identified as a koʻa (fishing shrine). However it was identified as a "temporary habitation" in the Oneʻula archaeological report, along with most of the other 400 listed sites. - An unusual upright stone in area 3216, bulldozed.

Oddly, the archaeologist from the state Historic Preservation Division visited area 3215 at the urging of some local residents and wrote in a letter that she saw no evidence of upright stones or ceremonial sites there.
