A WWII US Army collapsed pillbox sits on a platform at Kahōkūwelowelo Heiau. Other gun emplacments lie on the heiau, which has a commanding view of the North Shore coast. The heiau was kapu (off limits) to common people and served as a training center for kāhuna (priests).
